Is Radisson Blu Gothenburg the ultimate city center stay for curious travelers? Well, let’s drop you right into the middle of our three-day saga since our stay here was part of our Gothenburg Out There Series. We were right off the high-speed rail from Stockholm, and just before that, a flight from Kirkenes, Norway, so we were exhausted with our bags thumping along cobblestones making our way to the hotel. This is how the Radisson Blu Gothenburg wrapped us up in its buzz, challenged our “no corporate hotels, only boutique” mantra, and threw us straight Out There.
So here we go. The square outside the station explodes with light; it’s eleven pm but still glowing. “Even the walk was pleasant. You’re taking in the vibe of being back for the first time, which was lovely,” Norman says, dragging his suitcase, all hopeful. We step inside, and, well, it’s hopping: families, business travelers, Swedes in chunky boots, and a queue at check-in, but staff clicking along like clockwork. “Definitely buzzy, buzzing,” Angela laughs, palms pressed to her cheeks. It’s Wednesday night. The city is wide awake. So are we.

Why Stay at Radisson Blu Gothenburg
Let’s cut to it. Why choose Radisson Blu Gothenburg over the six other hotels we could see out our suite window? We’re out-there people—bold, practical, after realness, and local energy— not corporate types. But the space, the vibe, and the value honestly hooked us. What mattered was freedom: separation so we could live as close to home as possible, with creativity and comfort. “It gives us room to be creative,” Angela says, grinning. We splurged (but mildly) on the Corner Suite, and, wow, it was a stunner.

The Suite That Hits Different
A full one-bedroom—for Gothenburg, that’s gold. The suite is luxurious yet playful, featuring a “little Parisian vibe,” as Norman described it, and it embraces the color pink. The suite includes a giant table for six, a plush lounge chair perfect for relaxing, and windows that let in sunshine across the velvet furnishings. Not even the cities we love can always offer this much space without triple the price, especially in Manhattan (where you drop $1500+ for a suite like this, easy). We had a foyer, closets for days, a bathroom as big as some studios—bathrobes, slippers (yes, we wore them, no shame), and fresh flowers in the bath. “It was like being home, but better,” Angela says.
Okay, it wasn’t flawless. Those yellow clamps holding cabinets together did bring that IKEA “some assembly required” energy. It’s Sweden; what did we expect? Just joking, it was nice piece.

Location, Atmosphere, and Real Sleep
Central. Actually central. You can walk everywhere—the canals, cafés, shops, and clubs. Outside, the world hums with seagulls and late-night laughter, but inside? Near silence. “Even on a weekend, it was quiet. Great sleep,” Norman shares. Sure, one morning brought that classic Carrie Bradshaw moment: stiletto heels above us, a Gothenburg homage to ‘Sex and the City.’ We laughed over breakfast because, honestly, if that’s your worst noise complaint, you’re doing alright.

Service and Amenities: The Gritty Side
Check-in was fast; staff was sharp. They spotted Angela’s new membership instantly—Radisson points for days, even though she’d just switched from AmEx and showed zero balance. The front desk team was patient and helpful, even when we stumbled through loyalty questions.

Coffee service? Here’s our punchline: “The Nespresso system sucks. The coffee sucks,” Norman admits. We skipped the machine and went straight for the breakfast urn every morning (power move). Speaking of breakfast, it’s a buffet for every taste—yogurt, bacon, roasted tomatoes sweet as candy, pastries, and fruit. “Nothing negative about the service or the quality,” Angela insists. Oh, and a staffer tracks daily food waste, chalking up numbers on a board. Futile? Maybe. Honest? Absolutely.
The only major blip? The Wi-Fi. There’s no way to sugarcoat the situation. Weak signal, slow speed—painful if you need to stream or work on presentations.
“Who’s This For?” Our Out There Verdict
Radisson Blu Gothenburg is for explorers, families, business folks (who don’t need Wi-Fi), and anyone craving a sweet spot between local buzz and comfort you can truly sink into. The central location makes it effortless to get out and taste the city—whether solo, with a travel partner, or with toddlers in tow (beware, the breakfast area gets lively with young ones after nine am). For everyone else? This space delivers at a price point that blows New York out of the water.
We paid less here than we regularly do in the big city and got more room, more amenities, and a kind of comfy-chic energy that’s rare. They aren’t trying to be über-boutique, which makes it feel real—chill, welcoming, maybe a little high-end IKEA, but also a little Paris.
Bottom Line
Radisson Blu Gothenburg isn’t perfect. But it’s practical, inclusive, and buzzing with the city’s creative pulse. If you’re looking for glam at half the cost, if you’re hungry for the freedom to live like you own the place, or if you just want a breakfast that fuels the day—this is your spot. Edgy, honest, and Out There-approved. We’re coming back (with our own coffee, next time).
