When you step into The Crunkleton, you’re instantly greeted by a warm ambiance that’s hard to resist. The bar chairs seem designed to convince you to stay awhile, and once you settle in, leaving feels like the last thing on your mind. The vibe? Impeccable.
One of the standout experiences here was our bartender, J.A., who welcomed us with genuine
enthusiasm and insight. He made us feel right at home and took a moment to explain the bar’s unique setup, drawing our attention to the coveted collection of vintage bourbons behind him. If you’re a bourbon lover, you’d find yourself in paradise here, with rare vintage options that would make any enthusiast pause.

But having spent a week exploring bourbons, I decided to hand the reins over to J.A. and let him create a cocktail of his choosing. J.A. took my request to heart, asking all the right questions to tailor the drink: “Any specific spirit? Do you prefer a cocktail or something spirit-forward? Any allergies?” His attention to
detail was impressive, and with Halloween approaching, he had something special up his
sleeve.
His final concoction was nothing short of magical: a blend of Old Forester 1910 double-oaked
bourbon, a whisper of mezcal, Pedro Ximénez sherry, a dash of curaçao, and Carpano vermouth.
At this point, you learn that the bar at The Crunkleton truly shines at the details. They make their crystal-clear ice blocks in-house, elevating every drink. Behind the bar, J.A. sawed then shaved a pristine block of ice to fit my glass perfectly. With no impurities in the water, the ice looks spectacular and preserves the purity of each carefully crafted cocktail, ensuring your experience is never compromised.
A final fragrant touch of orange peel essence brought this drink to life. J.A. did not have a name for this drink. I’m calling it the Frankenstein. The cocktail was smooth yet complex, the kind of drink that warms you from the inside out, making it the perfect start to a relaxing evening. The Crunkleton stands out in a city teeming with bars, offering high-quality drinks and a memorable experience. Whether you’re a bourbon aficionado or just looking for a place to unwind, this spot will make you want to linger a little longer.
