As a New Jersey photographer and business owner, I’ve encountered countless inspiring women who were fearlessly navigating life transitions in pursuit of their dreams. One of my latest discussions delved into the challenges faced by women when transitioning from corporate jobs to entrepreneurship. The insights shared by Kim Ades, founder of Frame of Mind Coaching, shed light on the reasons behind women’s resistance to change and offered valuable advice worth sharing.

Throughout my own journey, I’ve experienced the allure of stability and comfort that comes with a steady corporate paycheck. I understand the hesitance to step into the unknown and pursue new opportunities. It’s common to feel the pull of security and fear of the unfamiliar. However, from Kim’s perspective, it’s crucial to recognize and challenge the limiting beliefs and fears that may be holding us back.

One invaluable piece of advice that stood out is the power of seeking guidance and support during transitional phases. Whether it’s through coaching, mentorship, or simply confiding in a trusted individual, having someone to guide and motivate you can significantly ease the process of change. It’s essential to remember that seeking support doesn’t indicate weakness, but rather a proactive step toward growth and self-improvement.

A tool that Kim emphasized and one that I’ve personally found effective is journaling. Taking the time to reflect on your beliefs about the transition and any self-imposed limitations can be eye-opening. Through journaling, you can identify the thoughts and fears that may be hindering your progress. By questioning the validity of these beliefs, you challenge yourself to think beyond preconceived notions and open your mind to new possibilities.

Furthermore, Kim suggests that in times of doubt, it’s beneficial to engage in open dialogues, whether it’s with a coach, therapist, friend, or family member. Sharing your concerns and feelings can offer fresh perspectives and insight. It’s easy to get caught up in a cycle of negative self-talk and limited thinking. Discussing your thoughts with others can help break the cycle and lead to a greater understanding of your situation.
